MaxiScale is led by a seasoned management team with a strong history of achievement in creating innovative network attached storage, clustering, file systems, and networking companies. The company’s functional teams also have extensive domain experience in these areas, having delivered successful solutions for companies including Network Appliance, Brocade, Cisco, Sun, Force10, Intel, Cacheflow, McDATA, and Compaq.
Gianluca Rattazzi President, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder
Mr. Rattazzi has been a serial Silicon Valley entrepreneur. He co-founded Meridian Data, Parallan, P-Com, and BlueArc, serving as chief executive officer for each. Three of these companies achieved successful NASDAQ IPOs and the fourth has recently filed. He earned a master’s degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Laurea in Nuclear Chemistry from the University of Rome.
Francesco Lacapra Chief Technology Officer, Vice President of Engineering, and Co-Founder
Mr. Lacapra has served in engineering executive management roles at numerous infrastructure and storage companies, including Olivetti, Quantum and BlueArc. He earned an M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley and a Laurea in Electronics Engineering from the University of Rome, Italy, where he graduated summa cum laude. He has also been a professor in the Computer Science Department at the University of Milan, Italy, and is a recipient of a Fulbright-Hays scholarship.
Kevin O’Keefe Vice President of Field Operations
Mr. O’Keefe brings extensive executive experience in server and computing infrastructure, software, and business intelligence services to MaxiScale. He served in chief executive officer and senior vice president roles for technology firms including Stratus Computers, Diogenes, Nativeminds, and MineShare, as well as sales director for Sun Microsystems. Mr. O’Keefe earned a bachelors degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
Gary Orenstein Vice President of Marketing
Mr. Orenstein has served in leadership marketing roles at numerous networking and storage companies. Prior to MaxiScale, he was the vice president of marketing and business development at Gear6, a caching and file acceleration pioneer. He also served as vice president of marketing at Compellent, and was a co-founder at Nishan Systems, acquired by McDATA/Brocade. Mr. Orenstein is the author of IP Storage Networking: Straight to the Core. He holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a BA from Dartmouth College.
